Doblar, Li and Stegemann Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Peter Doblar, Jing Li and Ulrike Stegemann were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, October 16, 2006.

Doblar, a junior from Woodinville, Wash., captured the one- (298.90) and three-meter springboard (267.40) events at the Yellow Jackets opening swimming and diving meet on Saturday, Oct. 14. His two wins earned the Jackets 18 points against Clemson.

Li, a freshman from Chapel Hill, N.C., helped Tech’s women’s swimming and diving team split with Clemson and Boston College on Saturday by winning the 200-meter fly with a time of 2:05.66. She also placed first in the 500-meter free in 4:59.40. The freshman touched the wall second in 1000-meter free in 10:13.74. Li finished the day with 22 points.

Stegemann, a junior from Schwerin, Germany, helped Georgia Tech to its first two ACC wins of the season. She hit a game-high .636 against N.C State and .406 for the entire weekend. She was one of three Jackets in double-figures in kills and was one dig shy of a double-double against North Carolina.
