>> No. 11 Georgia Tech and No. 5 Florida State collide this weekend at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee in a key early-season ACC series of highly-ranked clubs.
>> The series begins Friday at 3 p.m. with a doubleheader and all three games can be heard on WREK 91.1 FM with Nolan Alexander and Will Long. ESPN3 will carry the series with Tom Block and Chip Baker.
>> The Yellow Jackets are making their first visit to Dick Howser Stadium since the 2008 season. It’s the lone remaining ACC venue that no active Tech player has played in.
>> The series is set to be a contrast of styles as the Yellow Jackets put the nation’s highest scoring offense up against one of the NCAA’s best pitching staffs. Tech is hitting .352 as a club and averaging 9.7 runs per game, while FSU’s staff owns a 1.77 ERA.
>> Senior CF Brandon Thomas paces the ACC and entered the week second nationally in batting average. He’s hit safely in 12-consecutive games, including eight-consecutive multi-hit contests, and is hitting .487 on the year.
>> Junior C Zane Evans is the ACC Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. He hit .467 in the three-game sweep of Boston College this past weekend and drove in nine of the Jackets’ 32 runs. Eight of his ACC-best nine homers have come over his 13-game hitting streak.
>> Senior RHP Buck Farmer is 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in three career starts versus the `Noles. He won last year’s ACC Tournament opener over No. 1 FSU en route to Tech’s eighth conference title.
