Darryl Richard Invited To East-West Shrine Game

Jan. 11, 2009

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech senior defensive tackle Darryl Richard has been invited to play in the Jan. 17 East-West Shrine Game in Houston, Texas.

Richard will join Yellow Jacket teammate, senior cornerback Jahi Word-Daniels, at the 84th East-West Shrine Game. Two other Tech players — defensive end Michael Johnson and defensive tackle Vance Walker — will play in the Senior Bowl.

Georgia Tech maintains a strong presence in the Shrine Game. Linebacker Gary Guyton played in the event last year and eventually found a spot on the New England Patriots’ roster. In 2006, KaMichael Hall and Kenny Scott participated.

This year’s Shrine Game will be played on Jan. 17 at the University of Houston’s Robertson Stadium. Kick-off is at 4 p.m. (Eastern) and will be televised by ESPN2.

More information and complete rosters for the Shrine Game can be found at www.shrinegame.com.
