Countdown to First Pitch (11 days): Zane Evans and Brad Markey

The Georgia Tech baseball team begins the 2011 season Friday, Feb. 18 when it opens a three-game series with Kent State. With seventeen newcomers on the 2011 team, RamblinWreck.com will hold a Q&A everyday until opening day in the “Countdown to first pitch” series.

Today’s feature is with freshman catcher Zane Evans and freshman pitcher Brad Markey.

ZE: I participated in the Connie Mack Home Run Derby and placed second.

ZE: Excellent coaches and baseball program, and a great degree.

RW.com: What is the reason behind your uniform number?
ZE: It has been my lucky number for every team I have played on.

ZE: Committing to Georgia tech.

ZE: Brian McCann.

ZE: I tape my wrists and then write on them.

ZE: Peyton Manning.

ZE: Getting knocked out by some kid on a play at home plate.
