THE FLATS – Freshman distance runner Sarah Copeland has been named ACC Women’s Co-Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday.
Copeland is collecting many ACC Freshman of the Week honors. This is her third award in four races. No other woman in the ACC has won the award more than once this year.
Copeland ran at the Penn State National Open on Friday marking her second 6k race in her collegiate career. She improved her time from her first 6k race by 56.7 seconds. She was the first true freshman to cross the finish line in University Park, Pa. The freshman finished 17.9 seconds ahead of the closest true freshman at the meet.
The White and Gold compete at the ACC Championships in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.
