A native of Osasco, Brazil, Baigan joined the Yellow Jackets following a stint of more than seven years at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, serving most recently as associate head coach. Began became an assistant coach for the Vaqueros in 2015 and was later promoted to associate head coach in 2022.

Baigan was vital in building a unit that claimed both its first WAC Championship (2018) and WAC Tournament Championship (2016). The White and Gold’s new addition was responsible for recruiting, assisting with practice and in-match coaching during his time at UTRGV.

Prior to joining the Vaqueros, Baigan, served an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at Park University for the previous three years. At the end of his tenure with Pirates, Baigan landed on the 2015 edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 list.

Earlier that year, Baigan earned AVCA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors after helping the Park women’s team to a 40-0 record and the NAIA Championship, capped by a victory over UT Brownsville in the title game. On the men’s side, he also guided Park to the 2014 NAIA Championship.

An essential cog in Park’s coaching staff, Baigan served as the program’s chief recruiting assistant. He also assisted in the day-to-day operations of the program and helped to coordinate video exchange with opposing coaches.

Baigan first represented Park in 2009, opening his playing career during the 2010 season after transferring from Missouri Valley College. In his final season on the court, Baigan led Park to the 2012 NAIA Championship as a team captain.

For three seasons, Baigan was a leader in Park’s back row. He racked up 229 digs in 80 matches (227 sets) as well as 87 assists in 27 matches, earning all-conference honors as a senior.

Baigan went on to join the professional ranks with Zenith Volleyball in the Caribbean Volleyball League, hosted by Trinidad & Tobago. During his time, Baigan earned best libero honors while leading his team to the championship match.

Off the court, Baigan earned a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and an MBA in international business at Park.
