Matt Fraschilla was named an assistant coach with the Georgia Tech men’s basketball staff in April 2026. He came to The Flats after spending the last four years in the same role at Harvard.
Fraschilla, who was selected to the 2026 Silver Waves Media Rising Stars list, returned to his alma mater in Cambridge ahead of the 2022-23 season and helped Harvard steadily improve the past four seasons. During his tenure at Harvard, Fraschilla helped develop two unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year selections (Robert Hinton in 2024-25 and Malik Mack in 2023-24), a pair of unanimous All-Ivy first team selections (Hinton in 2025-26 and Chris Ledlum in 2022-2023), an Allstate NACDA Winter Good Works Team (Evan Nelson) recipient and a NABC All-District and USBWA All-District honoree in Ledlum. Fraschilla was part of the Crimson staff that earned Ivy League Co-Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2025-26 after leading Harvard to a second-place finish in the league standings.
The Crimson capped the 2025-26 season qualifying for the Ivy League Tournament for the first time since 2020 and finished the season with a 17-12 overall record to go along with a 10-4 Ivy League mark, the best in six years. Fraschilla coordinated a defense that led the Ivy League in scoring defense (66.7 points per game allowed) last season and recorded its highest league finish at No. 2 since the 2019-20 season. The Crimson garnered three postseason selections in Hinton, Chandler Piggé and Thomas Batties II.
In 2024-25, Hinton became the second-straight Ivy League Rookie of the Year recipient as Malik Mack earned the honor the season prior in 2023-24. With Fraschilla on staff, the Crimson recorded three seasons with a record of .500 or better.
Prior to returning to Harvard, Fraschilla served five years at Villanova as a graduate assistant (2017-18, 2018-19) and video coordinator (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22) under Jay Wright. While at Villanova, the Wildcats went 134-36 (67-22 Big East), won six conference titles (three regular season, three tournament) and made four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national title in 2018 and a Final Four berth in 2022.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Fraschilla was a four-year letterwinner at Harvard (2014-17), helping lead the Crimson to a pair of Ivy League titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15, resulting in NCAA Tournament appearances. Over the course of his career, Harvard compiled an 81-39 record and went 40-16 in the Ivy League. Fraschilla graduated from Harvard in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in government and a citation in Spanish language. He also holds a MBA from the Villanova School of Business (2019).
