KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Matt Casillas led all Georgia Tech divers on the third day of the 2018 NCAA Zone B Championships, placing sixth in the platform dive on Wednesday afternoon.
His combined score of 672.53 over 12 dives qualified him for the men’s platform in the 2018 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships (March 21-24) in Minneapolis, Minn. – the fourth Yellow Jacket to qualify.
He posted a mark of 349.70 in the prelims to earn a finals spot, where he turned in a score of 322.65 over his final six dives.
Also competing in the men’s platform was Nolan Mallet, who turned in a combined score of 529.70, finishing 15th overall. The junior turned in a score of 257.45 for his first six dives before scoring 272.25 in the finals.
Freshman Paige Gohr earned her way into the women’s platform dive finals with a 203.70 performance in prelims. Once in the finals, she recorded a score of 203.35 in her final five dives to finish 17 th overall.
The Yellow Jackets next hit the pool for the 2018 NCAAs when Casillas joinsChristian Ferraro, Caio Pumputis and Moises Loschi in Minnesota from March 21-24.
