Braun Named ACC OL of the Week for Second Time

Sept. 25, 2017

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football left guard Parker Braun has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week following his dominant performance in last Saturday’s 35-17 win over Pittsburgh.

Braun, the Yellow Jackets’ starting left guard, paved the way for Georgia Tech’s 436 rushing yards in the convincing win over Pitt. He took 22 defenders to the ground in the Jackets’ 74 offensive snaps, good for an average of one every 3.4 plays.

Behind the Braun-led offensive front, Georgia Tech (2-1, 1-0 ACC) averaged 6.5 yards per rush over 67 carries and did not surrender a sack.

For the season, the Yellow Jackets lead the nation in rushing offense (393.7 ypg) and are tied for 11th in sacks allowed (0.67 pg).

The ACC honor is the second of Braun’s career. He became the first Georgia Tech freshman to ever be named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week when he earned the honor for the first time following the Yellow Jackets’ 30-20 win at No. 18 Virginia Tech on Nov. 12 of last season.

Braun and the Jackets look to move to 2-0 in ACC play on Saturday when they host longtime league rival North Carolina (1-3, 0-2 ACC) at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Kickoff for Georgia Tech’s annual WHITEOUT game is set for noon. Click HERE for tickets and HERE for the Yellow Jackets’ official 2017 WHITEOUT t-shirt.
