May 24, 2013

GREENSBORO, NC – Georgia Tech track and field sophomore Brandon Lasater finished 10th in the 800 meters Friday at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Irwin Belk Track inside of Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T to qualify for the NCAA Championships set for June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

Lasater took 10th place in the event and shaved almost two seconds off his time from Thursday with a 1:48.49 performance to make the national meet. The top 12 in each event earn a spot in the championship meet.

The Jackets continue action Saturday at the NCAA East Preliminaries with the jumps. Jonathan Gardner will take part in the men’s triple jump (1 p.m.), and McKee and McLeod will take on their second events of the week in the women’s triple jump at 5:30 p.m.

Mykhail Chambers wraps up the Jackets time at the NCAA East Preliminaries in the high jump at 6 p.m.
