Boggs Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Matthew Boggs and Florida State’s Matt Lynch were named Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week after excellent performances in last week’s action.

Boggs, a senior third baseman, hit .609 (14-for-23) last week, leading Georgia Tech to a 4-1 record against Clemson, Mercer and Miami. Seven of his hits were for extra bases and he drove in 10 runs. In a 11-0 win against No. 1 Clemson last Monday, he went 4-for-4 with five RBI. On Sunday against Miami, the fifth-year senior hit his first career home run in 712 at bats in leading Tech to a 16-8 win. He had a streak of nine consecutive plate appearances with a hit against Clemson and Mercer.

Lynch, a junior pitcher, improved to 11-1 this season when he threw a complete-game shutout against Maryland. He allowed five hits and struck out eight of the 32 batters he faced.
