TOP STORYLINES
• Georgia Tech baseball heads out for another road swing, beginning at Coolray Field for the second time this season, this time against Georgia State on Tuesday, March 27.
• Georgia Tech took care of business this weekend when it took another ACC series, defeating Clemson 2-1 to move into third in the ACC Coastal Division.
• Crosstown rivals, Tech and State have faced off 83 times since 1971 with the Jackets owning a 70-13 advantage all-time.
• Tech got another terrific showing from RHP Luke Schmolke, who, in his second ACC start, went a career-long 5.0 innings to keep the Tigers at bay and earn his team-leading third win of the season.
• The Jackets’ bullpen impressed again by keeping them in the game to complete 4-3 comeback win on Friday night and keeping the Tigers to just three runs on Saturday as well.
• Jackson Vaughan, Terry Busse, Noah Samol, Aeden Finateri and Demitri Diamant all turned in shutout outings.
• Offensively, the Jackets were once again on fire, hitting .339 overall against Clemson.
• Jake DeLeo earned ACC Player of the Week honors for his performance, hitting two home runs and three doubles against the Tigers and seven extra-base hits on the week total.
• Tech has hit .317 at the plate overall on the year, with a gaudy seven .300 hitters in the lineup: DeLeo (.436), Kristian Campbell (.385), Jack Rubenstein (.356), Jackson Finley (.356), Stephen Reid (.351), Angelo Dispigna (.347) and Jadyn Jackson (.340).
• DeLeo’s average ranks third in the ACC. He also leads the conference in hits (44) and total bases (79), ranks second in doubles (11), fifth in slugging percentage (.782) and sixth in home runs (8).
