Bart, English Earn Postseason Accolades

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech junior Joey Bart and redshirt sophomore Tristin English were both named to the 2018 Atlantic ABCA/Rawlings all-region teams on Wednesday. Bart earned a spot on teh first team, while English was named to the second team.

Bart was also recognized as a 2018 Perfect Game/Rawlings first team all-American, an NCBWA first-team all-American and named to the D1Baseball all-America second team.

The 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-ACC selection, Bart finished the regular season leading the ACC in hitting with a .359 average overall. He led Georgia Tech and ranked second in the league in slugging percentage (.632) and hits (79), while also posting a team-high in home runs (16), runs scored (55) and on-base percentage (.471), which all ranked in the top 10 in the ACC.

The Buford, Ga. native posted a season-high 16-game hitting streak, the longest of the year for a Yellow Jacket player, and totaled 24 multi-hit games on the season overall, which included a pair of multi-home run games.

Bart, who was also named first-team all-America by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball earlier this month, was an ABCA/Rawlings all-region second team selection in 2017.

An all-ACC first team selection as a utility player, English was named to the all-region second team as a designated hitter. The Williamson, Ga. native, who saw time at designated hitter, first base and on the mound for the Jackets this past season, hit .279 with 63 total hits in 54 games in 2018. He recorded six home runs, a triple and a team-high 17 doubles, while also driving in a team-high 60 RBIs, which ranked fifth in the ACC. English, who scored 33 runs on the season, posted a .442 slugging percentage and a .324 on-base percentage on the year. He totaled 19 multi-hit games and a team-high 16 multi-RBI games hitting in the middle of the Tech lineup this past season.
