Ball, Kellogg and Herren Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Reggie Ball, Talisa Kellogg and David Herren were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, September 18, 2006.

Reggie Ball, a senior from Stone Mountain,Ga., rushed for 130 yards, a school record for a quarterback, and passed for 164 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 35-20 victory over Troy. Ball directed a Tech offense that piled up 500 total yards, including 320 yards on the ground. Ball’s effort also marked the fourth time in school history that a quarterback has rushed and passed for 100 yards in the same game.

Talisa Kellogg, a sophomore from Westerville, Ohio, was named the Georgia Tech Regency Suites Midtown Invitational MVP. She recorded 30 kills, five blocks and three digs in three games to help Georgia Tech win the tournament. Kellogg became the third athlete in school history to record a perfect hitting percentage in a game with 10 or more attack attempts in a victory over Stetson.

David Herren, a senior from Rome, Ga., placed sixth overall amongst 102 runners at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. Herren clocked a time of 27:07 on the 8.4K course. He has been the top finisher for the Jackets in the first two cross country races this season.
