Ball, Gray and Clinch Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Reggie Ball, Lindsey Gray and Lewis Clinch were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, November 20, 2006.

Ball, a senior from Stone Mountain, Ga., made his 47th career start, most ever by a Tech quarterback, and won his 29th game as the Yellow Jackets’ starting quarterback, tying him with Joe Hamilton for second place in Tech history. He three touchdown passes on just seven completions to lead the No. 18 Yellow Jackets to their fourth straight victory with a 49-21 win over Duke. Playing just one half, Ball completed seven of 13 passes for 122 yards, including touchdown passes of 10, 37, and 19 yards to stake the Jackets to a 28-0 second-quarter lead. The Yellow Jackets rolled up Tech’s highest point in an ACC game since total since 2000.

Gray, a junior from Lenexa, Kan., helped Georgia Tech to a 3-0 record on the week, including two five-game victories over conference opponents. She has been a major contributor in Tech’s current nine-match winning streak. This past week, she led the squad in kills per game and was second on the team in digs per game, posting three double-doubles on the week to increase her season total to 15 in 2006. Gray had a career-high 27 digs in Tech’s 3-2 win against Clemson on Tuesday night and recorded her fourth 20-plus dig performance of the season in the Jackets’ 3-2 victory over Maryland. She also posted her third 20-plus kills match of the season against Boston College, with 21 in Tech’s 3-1 win over the Eagles.

Clinch, a sophomore from Cordele, Ga., helped the men’s basketball team to back-to-back 100 point scoring games for the first time in 12 years in wins over Jackson State and Georgia State. Scored a team-high 16 points against Jackson St. and 20 points against Georgia St. Clinch is shooting a remarkable .724 from the field this season and is leading the team in scoring with 16.7 points per game.
