THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis player Andres Martin received a wild card into the singles draw of the 2023 Atlanta Open. The tournament officially announced its field of players for the 14th edition of the professional tournament on Tuesday at Atlantic Station.
Martin will be making his third appearance in the tournament, having earned a wild card last year for College Night and a doubles wild card in 2021 with teammate Keshav Chopra. Martin made his ATP Tour singles debut last season and earned his first career ATP win, defeating No. 69 Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight-sets.

A doubles and singles ITA All-American this past collegiate season, Martin capped the 2023 campaign going 27-8 overall in singles, leading Georgia Tech from the No. 1 position all year. The Flowery Branch, Ga., native went 21-5 in dual singles action and was 9-2 against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
He capped his junior season earning all-ACC first team honors (singles), all-ACC second team recognition (doubles) and was named the recipient of the ITA Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship & Leadership Award.
Martin continues the tradition of Yellow Jackets to compete in the Atlanta Open. Current assistant coach and former pro Kevin King was the first to do so, followed by current No. 77-ranked player Chris Eubanks.
The Atlanta Open is an ATP Tour 250 Event played at Atlantic Station, July 22-30. Martin will represent Georgia Tech at the 2023 Atlanta Open on July 25 for College Night. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase on the Atlanta Open website.
