ACC Bowl Preview #8

Dec. 24, 2010

January 9 – Fight Hunger Bowl
Boston College (7-5) vs. Nevada (12-1), 9 p.m.

Boston College makes its 12th straight bowl appearance this holiday season. The Eagles won five straight to close the regular season as QB Chase Rettig got comfortable in the offense. Montel Harris missed the last couple weeks of the regular season, but the ACC’s leading rusher should be back for the second to last game of the bowl season.

If the Eagles are going to win, then their sophomore All-America linebacker Luke Kuechly needs to be big. The Wolf Pack run “The Pistol” offense, but it is much more than just QB Colin Kaepernick. WR Rishard Matthews has 49 catches and four touchdowns to help off-set the rushing tandem of Kaepernick (1,184 yards / 20 TD) and RB Vai Taua (1,534 yards / 19 TD).

Nevada is seventh nationally in scoring (42.6) and third in total offense (535.5) and rushing offense (305.9), which fits well against the Eagles, who are first nationally against the run (80.1).

It’s the last game for the ACC in what will be a very important bowl season.
