Yuval Safra Clinches Euros Spot

July 24, 2014

THE FLATS – Rising Georgia Tech junior Yuval Safra will represent his native country of Israel at the 2014 European Swimming Championships August 13-24 in Berlin, Germany.

Safra, who joins fellow Jacket Nico van Duijn (Switzerland), will compete in both the 10k and 25k events at the European Championships.

“We are very excited to have two athletes representing their countries and Georgia Tech in the European Championships this summer,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “They are both very dedicated and hard workers and its great they get to showcase that on an international level.”

Safra burst onto the scene as a rookie as Tech’s top distance swimmer. This past year, he finished 12th at the ACC Championship in the mile (15;22.90), which was good for an NCAA “B” cut. He finished 24th in the 500 free (4:28.84).
