TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Georgia Tech softball team (2-7) fell, 4-1, to the Western Kentucky University Lady Toppers (6-3) Saturday at the FSU Unconquered Invite at JoAnne Graf Field. The Jackets wrap up their time in Tallahassee, Fla. Sunday with a 10 a.m. game against No. 7 Michigan.

All of Georgia Tech’s hits were doubles, but the Lady Toppers out-hit the Jackets 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. Tech tallied back-to-back doubles courtesy of leadoff hitter Katie Johnsky, followed by Courtney Ziese, which scored Johnsky to give Tech a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Toppers got that one back in the top of the third with an RBI double to left center and took the lead, 2-1, on a bases loaded walk.

WKU put two runners on base with one out in the top of the fourth to prompt a Georgia Tech pitching change – Christina Biggerstaff for Emily Anderson. Biggerstaff pitched Tech out of danger, inducing a ground-out and a pop up.

Tech’s third double of the game came in the fifth inning off the bat of Kelsey Chisholm, but the Jackets were unable to bring her around.

The Lady Toppers struck again in the top of the sixth with an RBI single to center, increasing their lead 3-1. A costly Georgia Tech error in the top of the seventh extended WKU’s lead 4-1.

Anderson (1-3) absorbed the loss, pitching 3.1 innings while allowing two runs on three hits. Biggerstaff pitched 3.2 innings of relief, surrendering two runs, one earned, on three hits.

Hannah Parker (2-1) earned the win in a complete-game effort with one run on three hits.
