THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s sixth-ranked recruiting class got even stronger on Monday when head coach Rodney Harmon announced the addition of Natasha Fourouclas to the Yellow Jackets roster for the 2013-14 season.
Fourouclas, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, joins Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer in the incoming Tech class. McAdoo is ranked the sixth best prospect by the Tennis Recruiting Network and Anton-Ohlmeyer is ranked 13th.
Fourouclas has been ranked as high as No. 474 in the world by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). As a junior player, she reached as high as No. 83 by the ITF Juniors.
“We are extremely excited to add someone of Natasha’s ability to our team,” Harmon said. “She has the drive and competitiveness to be one of the best student-athletes to ever play tennis at Georgia Tech, and she will make everyone on our team better. Natasha is also a very bright student and will excel in the classroom at Georgia Tech. I am looking forward to welcoming this talented group of freshmen to campus and working to get better with our entire team when the season starts.”
An accomplished player, Fourouclas played on the Fed Cup team in 2011 at age 16, which she lists as her most memorable athletic accomplishment. In 2008, she won the U14 Nike Junior Tour South African Masters and was a part of the South African representation at the 2011 All-Africa Games.
Along with the three newcomers, Harmon and assistant coach Alison Silverio will welcome back Natasha Prokhnevska, Megan Kurey, Muriel Wacker and Kendal Woodard from last year’s team that earned Georgia Tech’s 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
