Christopher Yun Signs NLI with @GT_MTEN

Nov. 20, 2015

THE FLATS – Christopher Yun, rated a Blue Chip prospect and ranked 21st in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net, signed a national letter-of-intent to play for Georgia Tech’s men’s tennis team during the recently completed November signing period, head coach Kenny Thorne announced Friday.

Yun, the younger brother of current Tech sophomore Daniel Yun, is from Marietta, Ga., and attends Lassiter High School. He has been ranked as high as No. 18 nationally in 2015, and is currently the No. 10-ranked player in the Southeast and No. 2 in Georgia.

Among his top tournament performances in 2015 have been a runner-up finish at the Sunchang Korea ITF Grade 5 event in April, and he reached the round of 16 in the National Clay Court Championships in July and the USTA National Winter Championships in January. He has a 31-16 overall record this year, including a 3-11 mark against other Blue Chip opponents and a 24-5 combined slate against 5-star and 4-star foes.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says — “We are very excited to welcome Christopher to our Yellow Jacket family. We believe he is the best recruit in the state and will do very well for us. He has a great work ethic on and off the court and fits the mold of what we want on our team. He has excelled in his school work while traveling all around the nation playing top national tournaments. Christopher is one of the better athletes out there and really loves the process of improving his game. He has had good results now but we expect him to really improve in college.”
