Stewart Named Academic All-District

Nov. 3, 2016

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech sophomore wide receiver Brad Stewart is a first-team Academic All-District honoree, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

Stewart, who carries a 3.58 grade point average in mechanical engineering, has started all eight games at wide receiver for Georgia Tech this season and also serves as the Yellow Jackets’ punt returner. He ranks second on the team in receptions (13), second in yards per catch (18.0 avg. — min. three receptions) and third in total receiving yards (234).

Last Saturday versus Duke, he set a career highs with 70 receiving yards and a 50-yard catch, which was the longest reception by a Georgia Tech wideout in 2016.

Due in large part to the 6-1, 197-pounder, Georgia Tech ranks third in the nation in yards per reception (18.5 avg.) and 10th nationally in yards per punt return (15.0 avg.) this season.

He is the seventh first-team Academic All-District honoree in Georgia Tech history and the first since defensive tackle Darryl Richard in 2007. By virtue of his first-team All-District recognition, Stewart earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America team will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Stewart and the Yellow Jackets (5-3, 2-3 ACC) go for their third-straight win on Saturday at No. 18/17 North Carolina (6-2, 4-1 ACC). Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. and the game will be televised live on the ACC Network.
