THE FLATS – For the 11th consecutive year, rivals Georgia Tech and Georgia will collide at Turner Field in downtown Atlanta for the Kauffman Tire Spring Baseball Classic for Kids. All proceeds benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

About this Atlanta Charity Sporting Event
The 11th annual Kauffman Tire Spring Classic for Kids is one of Children’s largest fundraising events featuring two of college baseball’s top programs and state rivals. More than 20,000 tickets are sold annually to this game at Turner Field making it one of the nation’s largest college baseball games each year. Proceeds from the event benefit the pediatric research of the Children’s Neurosciences Program.

Last year’s game drew a crowd of 19,669 and was won by the Yellow Jackets, 4-3, with Kyle Wren providing the game-winning hit in the top of the ninth inning… Georgia Tech will be the home team for the 2013 game… Dave Neal and Larry Conley will call the game on Fox Sports South… In the 10 previous Tech-Georgia games at Turner Field, the Bulldogs have won seven… The last five Turner Field games have been decided by a total of eight runs… Tech defeated Georgia, 7-5, earlier this season in Athens… Tech is 40-29 versus Georgia in 20 seasons under head coach Danny Hall and has not lost a regular-season series to the Bulldogs since 2008… The record attendance for the Kauffman Tire Spring Baseball Classic for Kids is 28,836, set May 11, 2004 (a 12-5 Tech win).
