@GT_WTEN Finishes Day Two at Michigan Invite

ANN ARBOR – On the second day of the Michigan Invitational, the No. 23 Georgia Tech women’s tennis team picked up three doubles wins and three singles victories. 

The Yellow Jackets faced No. 14 Michigan in singles. The Jackets’ three singles victories were highlighted by sophomore Johnnise Renaud’s 7-6 (2), 6-4, win against No. 17 Ronit Yurovsky. It was Renaud’s first win against a ranked opponent this season.

Senior Kendal Woodard also won her singles matches, rolling past Mira Ruder-Hook, 6-4, 6-4. Prokpuik recorded the same score in her win, defeating Kara Hall, 6-4, 6-4.

After winning set one against No. 19 Brienne Minor, 6-3, sophomore Paige Hourigan fell in the next two sets, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Rasheeda McAdoo, who is ranked No. 92, fell in her match to No. 107 Kate Fahey, 6-4, 6-3. Senior Megan Kurey battled it out with Alex Najarian, but eventually fell 6-7 (10), 6-4, 7-6 (4). Junior Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer was defeated by Teona Velehorschi, 6-3, 6-3 and senior Natasha Prokhnevska  lost to Sarah Remynse, 6-1, 6-3.

The doubles tandem of Renaud and McAdoo blanked North Florida’s Gomez and Calderon, 6-0. McAdoo and Renaud edged Tennessee’s Bongart/Meredith, 7-6 (5) while Kurey and Anton-Ohlmeyer recorded a 6-1 victory against North Florida’s Valdez/Intert.

The Yellow Jackets wrap up competition tomorrow, facing North Florida in singles.
