Georgia Tech's Ulrike Stegemann Tabbed Academic All-District

Nov. 8, 2007

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech senior rightside hitter Ulrike Stegemann has been named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree for the second time in her career, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

“Ulli has had a great academic career at Tech to match her volleyball career,” head coach Bond Shymansky said. “When she came to the U.S. to play, the volleyball was the same size and the net was the same height. But in the classroom, the English language was not her own. Ulli was determined to learn, and has become our best student on the team.”

A year after being tabbed to the third team, the Schwerin, Germany native was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 second team in 2007. A management major that is pursuing a minor in international affairs and certificates in international management and marketing, Schwerin holds a 3.67 GPA in her four years on the Flats.

The 2006 AVCA honorable mention All-American has led Georgia Tech to a 17-9 record in 2007 while the Yellow Jackets currently stand third in the ACC with an 11-5 league mark.
