Eubanks to Represent ACC at Oracle ITA Masters

Oct. 12, 2016

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis junior Christopher Eubanks travels to Malibu, Calif. on Thursday, Oct. 13 to compete in the Oracle ITA Masters. He was selected as the representative for the Atlantic Coast Conference for the tournament.

In his first round match on Thursday, Eubanks will face No. 67 Alec Adamson (UC Davis). The match is slated for 2 p.m. PT.

This Oracle ITA Masters will mark Eubanks’ second tournament this fall. He just returned from a run to the quarterfinals at the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA All-American Championships. He is the first Yellow Jacket to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. With his quarterfinals birth, Eubanks earned himself a spot at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in November.

Eubanks, who was ranked No. 5 in the ITA preseason rankings this September, topped No. 35 Jordan Daigel (LSU), No. 61 Billy Griffith (California) and Christian Seraphim (Wake Forest) on his way to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships. Before his quarterfinals match against No. 37 Alfredo Perez (Florida), Eubanks hadn’t dropped a set in singles competition the 2016-17 season.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “It’s an honor for Chris to represent Georgia Tech as well as the ACC at the prestigious Oracle ITA Masters, Oracle and ITA picked a fairly decent location to attract some of the best players in the nation. Malibu is definitely beautiful however we were out in Los Angeles three different times over the past year so we are all about the tournament instead of the location. Chris is looking to improve upon some specific things from the All-American tournament. This is a great opportunity for him to get better.”
