Box Score

PANTHERSVILLE, Ga. – Pitching was the story for the Georgia Tech softball team again this morning as senior Erin Voeltz (4-1) retired the first 15 batters of the game and pushed her consecutive scoreless innings streak to 20 as the Yellow Jackets downed Tennessee State, 4-0, at the Georgia State Tournament on Bob Heck Field. Tech improves its winning streak to six games and will face tournament host, Georgia State, in the title game this afternoon at 4:45 p.m.

Tech jumped out in front of Tennessee State in the first inning 2-0. Senior left fielder reached base to lead off the inning on a hit by pitch. Reddick advanced to third base as sophomore right fielder singled to center field and advanced to second on the throw. Junior designated hitter Liz Bartle then singled to right field with one out to drive in a run and Hosier stole home for the Jackets’ second run of the inning.

Senior catcher Tasha Waugh got the fourth inning started for the Yellow Jackets with a walk. Senior center fielder Sara Wissmann followed with a base hit to right field. After a fielder’s choice for the second out of the inning, the Jackets recorded a double steal to increase their lead to three. Reddick then doubled to drive in the fourth run of the game for Tech as the Yellow Jackets led 4-0 after four innings of play.

TNSU’s Tarah Evanisko ruined Voeltz’s bid for a perfect game with a single in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Lady Tigers their only base runner of the ballgame. Voeltz retired the next five hitters in order as Tech cruised into the championship game of the GSU tournament, 4-0.

Voeltz threw all seven innings, allowing just one hit and struck out five.

Bartle and Reddick led the Yellow Jackets offensively, each driving in a run. Bartle finished 1-for-2, with a walk and RBI, while Reddeck went 1-for-3, with a HBP, double and RBI.

Georgia Tech scored four runs, on five hits and no errors, while Tennessee State had no runs, one hit and one error.
