Football Notebook: GT-Tennessee Draws Big Ratings on ESPN

Sept. 5, 2017

THE FLATS – Monday’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Georgia Tech and Tennessee drew ESPN’s third-highest overnight rating for a regular-season college football broadcast in the past calendar year, the network announced on Tuesday.

ESPN’s broadcast of Georgia Tech’s heartbreaking 42-41, double-overtime defeat drew a 3.3 overnight rating nationwide. Beginning with the second week of last season, the only regular-season games to draw higher overnight ratings on an ESPN network were Ohio State-Michigan State on Nov. 19 of last year (3.7) and Ohio State-Indiana last Thursday (3.6).

The broadcast drew a 12.8 rating in Atlanta, making it the fourth-highest rated market in the U.S.

GOLDOUT BOBBY DODD ON SATURDAY: Saturday’s home opener versus Jacksonville State is Georgia Tech’s annual GOLDOUT game at Bobby Dodd Stadium. All fans are encouraged to wear gold to support the Yellow Jackets as they take on the nation’s No. 5-ranked team in NCAA Division I FCS.

In conjunction with the GOLDOUT game, Georgia Tech’s official GOLDOUT t-shirts are now available for purchase. The shirts are available at Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech, located in Tech Square, and can also be purchased online by clicking HERE.

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for Saturday’s game (12:30 p.m.) are still available beginning at just $15 and can be purchased online by clicking HERE.

Additionally, Georgia Tech’s six-game season-ticket package, which includes tickets to all six games to be played at Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2017, and its popular Flex Packs, which allow buyers to choose any three, four or five games that they wish to attend, are also still available. A very limited number of tickets remain for the Nov. 25 regular-season finale versus archrival Georgia and can only be obtained with the purchase of a six-game season-ticket package or a Flex Pack.

Georgia Tech announced last week that 2017 full season-ticket packages are sold out.
