Kristi Miller Leads Georgia Tech at Baylor Invitational

Waco, Tex. – Kristi Miller posted a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory to lead Georgia Tech on day one of the Baylor Invitational. The freshman standout shut out Rice’s Kimberly Patenaude, 6-0, 6-0 in the Round of 64 and downed top-seeded Dianne Hollands of Arizona, 6-2, 7-5, to advance to the Round of 16, which will begin Saturday morning.

A native of Marysville, Mich., Miller also advanced to the Round of Eight in doubles play with Alison Silverio by defeating Baylor’s Iva Mihaylova and Klara Zrustova, 8-2, in the Round of 16 after TCU’s Gloriann Lopez and Kewa Nichols withdrew from their first-round match against the Yellow Jacket duo due to injury.

The sophomore Silverio also advanced to the Round of 16 in singles play by downing SMU’s Jenny Langer, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6. Junior Kelly Anderson, the No. 7 seed in singles play, became the third and final Georgia Tech player to move into the Round of 16 when she defeated UTA’s Gretel Hach, 6-2, 6-1 in her opening-round match.

Lindsey Stauss recorded the final singles victory for the Yellow Jackets on the day when she defeated Mihaylova, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, in her first-round match.

Transfer senior Dasha Potapova teamed with junior Kacie Anson to move into the Round of Eight in doubles play, downing second-seeded Daniela Muscolina and Carla Zabaleta of Tulsa, 8-4.

The Yellow Jackets will continue play in the Baylor Invitational on Saturday. Complete results for all Georgia Tech participants are listed below.
