Jacket Volleyball Improves to 2-0

Lynnette Moster recorded 12 kills (.370 percentage) and 14 digs as the Georgia Tech volleyball team (2-0) continued its winning ways by capturing their second win of the season over Rice (0-2) in three games, 30-23, 30-21, 30-16 in the Doubletree/Brion’s Grille Patriot Invitational.

Tech’s offense was impressive, hitting .423 as a team and tallying 55 kills in the match. Lauren Sauer recorded 10 kills in the match, hitting .467, while Alexandra Preiss notched nine kills and hit .667. Defensively, the Jackets were just as impressive, holding the Owls to a .094 percentage out outdigging Rice 43 to 26. Keight Vincent had eight digs, followed by Kele Eveland who had 41 assists and six digs.

“I thought tonight we played dominant, which was great to see,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “Our offense fired on all cylinders, our defense was inspiring, and our ball control was definitely the anchor to our success.”

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday when they take on No. 14 Northern Iowa at 2 p.m. in the final day of the Doubletree/Brion’s Grille Patriot Invitational.
