Georgia Tech Volleyball Sweeps Arch-Rival Georgia in 3 Games

Maja Pachale tallied 12 kills and Alexandra Preiss recorded 10 as the Georgia Tech volleyball team swept arch-rival Georgia in three games, 30-17, 30-23, 30-26 on Friday night in front of 1,561 fans. With the win, the Yellow Jackets have now won the last three matches in the series against the Bulldogs and improve to 19-7 on the season while Georgia falls to 11-14.

The Yellow Jackets used a solid offense to defeat the Bulldogs, recording a .417 hitting percentage to Georgia’s .217. In the three games, Tech recorded just seven hitting errors, while the Bulldogs had 19. Preiss hit a team-high .529, while Lauren Sauer tallied seven kills and hit .467, Pachale recorded a .407 hitting percentage and Lynnette Moster recorded six kills and a .385 percentage. On the night, Kele Eveland tallied 37 assists.

Defensively, the Jackets were led by Amanda Hess and Moster who each had nine digs, followed by Eveland who had eight. Kyleen Bell and Preiss each notched four blocks, while Eveland had three.

The Yellow Jackets will now await their seeding in the NCAA, which they will learn on Monday at 3 p.m.
