ATLANTA – Ryan Bamford, who worked in a variety of roles at Yale University since August of 2002, was named Georgia Tech’s Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Yellow Jacket Athletic Director Dan Radakovich announced Wednesday.
At Yale, Bamford served as Senior Associate Director of Athletics since 2007, supervising Bulldog sports including football, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s fencing. He was also responsible for overseeing Yale’s equipment operations, sports medicine and strength and conditioning programs.
“We are excited to have Ryan join the Yellow Jacket family,” Radakovich said. “He brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, and I am confident he will be a great asset to Georgia Tech athletics.”
At Yale, Bamford coordinated internal operations for an athletic program that consists of 35 varsity sports. He developed and managed philosophies and policies related to sport operations, including strategic planning initiatives. He oversaw scheduling, game contract administration and team services, and was involved in game management.
Bamford has served on a number of NCAA and Ivy League committees, including four years on the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Committee, which he chaired from 2009 to 2010.
Prior to working at Yale, Bamford worked in the athletic department at Springfield College (2000-02). He has also previously served at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Octagon Sports Marketing, Plymouth State and the University of New Hampshire.
A graduate of Ithaca College, Bamford was a standout basketball player for the Bombers. He left Ithaca as the school’s all-time leader in single-season and career three-point field goals.
