Brandon Lasater Named ACC Performer of the Week

Sept. 17, 2013

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country’s Brandon Lasater was named the ACC Male Cross Country Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Lasater, a junior from Perry, Ga., led the Yellow Jackets with a fifth-place finish out of 95 runners in Saturday’s inaugural Furman Classic in Greenville, S.C. Lasater finished the 8k course in a career-best time of 24:07, leading the Yellow Jackets to a fourth-place finish. Lasater’s fifth-place finish was the best among the three ACC schools that competed.

The Georgia Tech men’s cross country team is ranked fourth in the USTFCCCA’s more recent South Region poll. The previously unranked women’s team, which also finished fourth at the Furman Classic, jumped to 12th in the South Region poll.

The Jackets are back in action Oct. 5 at the Greater Louisville Classic. Action is set to begin 9:30 a.m. ET.
