Georgia Tech Track Wraps Up Rod McCravy Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Georgia Tech track and field successfully wrapped up the Rod McCravy Invite Saturday at Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky. Broderick Snoddy and Shawn Roberts highlighted the day with first and second place finishes in the 200 meters and 800 meters, respectively.

Snoddy won the 200 meters among 40 competitors with a time of 21.33.  Alexander Reese finished second for Tech and 18th overall with a time of 22.70.

Snoddy also won the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 6.77 and Perron Jones also qualified for the finals with a time of 6.88. Snoddy matched the school record time of 6.75 in the finals to finish third, a record time that he set last weekend at the Auburn Invite.

Shawn Roberts finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.10. Zack Fanelty took sixth in the same event with a time of 1:51.11.

Jonathan Gardner took third in the men’s triple jump invitational with a distance of 15.35m (50-04.50). Freshman Myles McDavid finished 10th (14.24m; 46-08.75) and Brandon Mbaba took 12th (14.11m; 46-03.50) in the same event.

Reese improved his 400 meter time from 51.30 last weekend to 49.27, finishing first for Tech and 17th overall. On the women’s side, Christina Pensock also finished first for Tech and shaved time off her 400 meter time last weekend, recording a 57.99.

Senior Maureen McMeekin took seventh in the mile run (5:02.91), followed by Caroline Kissel (ninth 5:03.52), Morgan Jackson (11th; 5:04.40) and Rachel Hammond (13th; 5:05.19).

Four Jackets finished in the top-10 in the men’s mile led by Jeremy Greenwald’s fourth-place finish in a time of 4:07.17. He was followed by Alec Clifford (fifth, 4:08.85), Joseph Stowe (seventh, 4:10.48) and Eric Powers (eighth, 4:11.47).

Janelle McLeod finished second, competing unattached, in the triple jump invitational with a distance of 12.76m (41-10.50). Julienne McKee leaped to a distance of 11.78m (38-07.75) to finish ninth.

The Jackets are back in action Feb. 1 at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
