Athletics Hosts IDEI Trainings

Georgia Tech athletics joined together with campus partners to offer three training sessions the week of May 9 to coaches and staff. The Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office (IDEI) provided three 90-minute training sessions: For the Greater Good, Addressing Microaggressions, and Brave Dialogues. The IDEI training team of Kay Martinez and Carese Tillman led the sessions.

For the Greater Good

This 90-minute workshop creates a space for participants to reflect on their social identities and the intersections of their identities. Participants will leave with an understanding of the terms Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Georgia Tech’s strategic priorities.

Addressing Microaggressions

This 90-minute workshop provided an opportunity for coaches and staff to learn about microaggressions. The workshop aims to increase awareness of the impact of microaggressions and enhance interpersonal dialogue skills to address them.

Brave Dialogues

This 90-minute workshop introduces participants to Intergroup Dialogue and the Brave Spaces framework. Participants will learn more about multipartial facilitation strategies and ways to create dialogue across differences.
