Yellow Jackets Travel To Tampa For USTA/ITA Regionals

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional hosted by USF in Tampa, Fla.

The winners will earn a trip to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, held Nov. 8-11, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The draws for the event will be out Thursday evening and play begins Friday at the USF Varsity and P.E. courts. The entire tournament is free and open to fans.

Senior Elizabeth Kilborn is the only Yellow Jacket ranked, coming in at No. 94 in the Campbell’s/ITA Division I Tennis Rankings. Kilborn is 3-2 on the season with two wins over top 30 opponents at the fall-opening Southern Shootout.

One of Kilborn’s ranked wins was over USF’s Ecaterina Vasenina, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, ranked No. 29 at the Southern Shootout hosted by Georgia State at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

Freshmen Kendal Woodard and Natasha Prokhnevska each boast 4-2 singles records this fall. Classmate Megan Kurey saw her first collegiate action at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by Alabama Oct. 5-6.
