The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (7-3) will finish its pre-holiday schedule with a pair of games in the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout on Monday, Dec. 19 and Wednesday, Dec. 21 before returning to Atlanta Dec. 22.

The Yellow Jackets will take on the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars (5-4) at 6 p.m. on the 19th and the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears (7-2) at 6 p.m. on the 21st. Both games will be played at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium in Nassau, The Bahamas, and can be heard on WREK 91.1 FM.

This will be the first meeting for Tech with both SIU-Edwardsville and Central Arkansas.

Tech is coming off an 85-50 win at city rival Georgia State on Friday, Dec. 16. Senior center Sasha Goodlett led four Jackets in double digits with a game-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting.

The Cougars haven’t played since a 72-57 win at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 11 and the Sugar Bears last outing was a 69-65 win over Tennessee-Martin Dec. 10 at home.

Tech Against OVC: Georgia Tech owns a 4-0 (100.0) all-time record against opponents from the Ohio Valley Conference. Tech has never played SIU-Edwardsville and the Jackets last foe from the OVC was Jacksonville State, which Tech defeated 81-52 on Jan. 2, 2011, at the AMC in Atlanta.

Tech Against Southland: Georgia Tech owns a 1-0 (100.0) all-time record against opponents from the Southland Conference. Tech has never played Central Arkansas and the only time the Jackets have played a team from the Southland came on Dec. 20, 2008, when Tech beat Texas-Arlington 63-56, also in the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout.

First Time Foes: Georgia Tech will face five opponents for the first time in 2011-12 (Central Arkansas, Marquette, North Carolina A&T, Rutgers and SIU-Edwardsville). So far this season, Tech is 1-1 against first time opponents having defeated Marquette Nov. 19, but lost to No. 13/13 Rutgers Nov. 25.

Last season, Tech played nine opponents for the first time and went 7-2. The opponents: Bowling Green (W), Georgetown (L), Jacksonville State (W), Middle Tennessee State (W), Missouri (W), Ohio State (L), Portland State (W), Prairie View A&M (W) and Washington (W).
