Aug. 26, 2016

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech Athletic Association proudly announced on Friday, August 26 that WellStar Health System, the largest health system in Georgia, is the new “Official Healthcare Partner of Georgia Tech Athletics.” The agreement marks the start of an exciting partnership between the two best-in-class Atlanta institutions.

With the new sponsorship, WellStar’s innovative medical services and world-class physicians will be promoted year-round, across all sports to the estimated 1.2 million Georgia Tech alumni and supporters that live throughout metro Atlanta, as well as millions of college sports fans that watch the Yellow Jackets on television each year.

“WellStar is proud to expand our relationship with Georgia Tech,” said Candice Saunders, president & CEO of WellStar Health System. “With a robust partnership with Georgia Tech Research Institute, WellStar is excited to partner with the Institute’s athletics department, where we can further educate fans and students about living a healthy lifestyle.”

“Georgia Tech Athletics is pleased to partner with a world-class healthcare provider like WellStar Heath System,” said Brett Daniels, Georgia Tech deputy director of athletics. “Being a Georgia-based company focused on innovation and a desire to lead in all facets of health and wellness makes WellStar a perfect teammate for our athletic department. Through this relationship, our students, alumni and fans will experience first-hand WellStar’s commitment to the health of our community.”

In 2014, WellStar’s Center for Health Transformation created a research partnership with Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) to develop patient-centered technologies and best practices. Furthering on the relationship with the Institute, WellStar is reaching a new audience of sports fans and students through its partnership with Georgia Tech athletics. Beyond the traditional aspects of in stadium and broadcast advertising, the partnership includes social-responsibility initiatives and community involvement both on- and off-campus.
