Track Completes Day One At Samford Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Georgia Tech track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition Friday at the Samford Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Broderick Snoddy finished second in the 200 meters, and the men’s and women’s distance medley relay teams took third to highlight the first day of competition.

In the last two events of the day, the Georgia Tech women’s DMR run by Maria Boff, Malin Trollsas, Morgan Jackson and Diana Pressel took third with a season-best time of 12:17.80.

Patrick Fleming, Nico Metzler, Cameron Reid and Calvin Tirrell ran the men’s DMR and placed third, logging a time of 10:19.95.

The Yellow Jackets kicked off the meet with the Pentathlon as junior Alex Braxton finished eighth with 3,382 points and senior Monique Pate took 10th with 3,346 points.

In the running events, Broderick Snoddy finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.38, while Alexander Reese took 12th in the same event in a time of 22.02.

Laura Nelson finished 13th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:34.07. Elena Hubbard took 15th (18:43.45) and Paige Selent placed 17th (18:53.47).

On the men’s side, Billy Koskiewicz finished first for Georgia Tech and seventh overall in the 5,000 meters with a mark of 15:23.40. Chance Eldredge followed in 11th place, crossing the line in 15:38.12.

The Yellow Jackets kick off Saturday’s events at 9 a.m. CT with the women’s long jump and end the competition at 6:35 p.m. CT with the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
