Three Yellow Jackets Honored by ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Senior pitcher Emily Anderson, senior outfielder Draven Sonnon and freshman outfielder Cameron Stanford represent Georgia Tech softball on the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2018 all-conference softball teams, which were announced on Tuesday.

Anderson, a pitcher from LaGrange, Ga., earned second-team all-conference honors in her senior campaign. She led the Jackets to 19 wins in the circle, including six complete-game shutouts. Anderson ranks fourth in the Georgia Tech record book for career strikeouts with 462, and 188 coming during the 2018 season. She recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts in Tech’s extra inning victory over DePaul in February. Anderson leads the Jackets in all pitching categories with a season ERA of 2.21. She is tied for third in the conference for wins and ranks fourth in strikeouts.

Sonnon was tabbed to all-ACC second team. The Sugar Hill, Ga. native has knocked out a career-best and team-leading nine homers this season. In conference play, Sonnon ranks first in the conference for runs scored with 21 and home runs with seven. She is slugging third in the conference in ACC action and ranks second for total bases. During ACC action, she leads the Yellow Jackets in home runs (7), RBI (16), slugging percentage (.676) and total bases (50).

Stanford was named to both the all-ACC second and all-freshman teams. The freshman from Alpharetta, Ga. ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in doubles, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and total bases in conference play. She ranks in the top 15 in batting average in conference play. Among the freshman in the ACC, she leads in home runs and walks with four and 20, respectively, and is among the top two in batting average, runs, hits, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.

The Jackets return to Mewborn Field on Thursday, May 10th to face North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the 2018 ACC Softball Tournament. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on RSN, Fox Sports South locally.
