Tech's Teixeira and Lewis Earn All-American Honors

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech third baseman Mark Teixeira and second baseman Richard Lewis were both named to the 14th annual All-America college baseball team as voted upon by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers.

Teixeira, a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy as the National Player of the Year, was tabbed to the first-team, while Lewis was voted to the second-team All-America squad. Teixeira led the ACC with a .427 batting average, 18 home runs and 109 runs scored, while Lewis ranked among the top five in the conference in batting (.398), hits (109) and runs scored (79).

The sophomore duo, which led Georgia Tech to a 50-16 overall record and the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, has already been invited to the USA Baseball national trials this summer.
