SCHWERIN, Germany – Despite playing its best match of the German international tour, the Georgia Tech volleyball team fell to the German Youth Volleyball Team in five games Monday night, 25-27, 16-25, 25-23, 25-13, 9-15. Maja Pachale led the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills and five digs, while Alexandra Preiss tallied eight kills and four block assists. Kele Eveland tallied a team-high 10 digs.

“Although we lost, this was the performance I was hoping for from our team and several of our players,” said Shelton Collier. “The Youth National team played many of their starters for much of the match, so we really had to play some exceptional volleyball to push it to a five-game match.”

“This is the level of play from our team that will be succesful in our collegiate season,” said Collier. “And, it was particuarly satisfying to play so well for Maja in her hometown. I was very proud of our team’s fighting spirit.” The team will return to action on Tuesday when it faces the Schwerin Club team, the former club team of outside hitter Maja Pachale, in Anklam, Germany.
