Tech Tennis Concludes Fall Campaign at Kitty Harrison Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s women’s tennis team concluded their fall campaign by winning a singles title and receiving two runner-up singles finishes at the third-annual Kitty Harrison Invitational, which was hosted by the University of North Carolina Friday through Sunday.

Junior Whitney McCray captured the White Draw Singles Title Sunday afternoon with a win over her own teammate, sophomore Christy Striplin, 6-4, 6-3, after both players earned semifinal wins earlier in the day. McCray battled for a 7-6 (1), 4-6, 10-7 victory over UNC’s Laura Reichert in the morning match while Striplin earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Carolina’s Meg Fanjoy.

Also earning a runner-up finish on the final day of competition was senior Tarryn Rudman, who earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over William & Mary’s Klaudyna Kasztelaniec, 6-0, 6-4 in the semis before falling to fifth-seeded Austin Smith, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 in the finals.
