Tech Softball To Conclude Regular Season Schedule At SASA Foe East Carolina

May 3, 2001

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team will look to get back into the win column this weekend, as it wraps up its regular season schedule with a trip to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina in the doubleheader.

The Yellow Jackets (23-26) will be looking to break a six-game losing streak that included games with ACC foe North Carolina and Mississippi State of the SEC. Five of the games in the skid have been decided by two runs or less, as Tech has continued to get solid pitching, but has struggled at the plate of late.

While Tech is at 2-6 in the SASA standings, East Carolina (47-22) will bring in a 2-4 conference mark in the SASA, with both teams looking to climb in the standings to conclude the year.

Following the doubleheader with the Pirates, Tech will travel back to the Old North State to the capital of Raleigh to compete in the 2001 ACC Tournament on May 11-13. The Jackets will face Maryland in the first round at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11 as either the four or five seed, with the winner facing the top seed, which will either be Florida State or North Carolina. The three-day event will take place at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
