Tech Records 6th Straight Victory With 6-1 Win Over NC State

ATLANTA – Roger Anderson won the No. 1 flight as No. 38 Georgia Tech (11-3, 1-0 ACC) swept the singles matches for a 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over NC State at Tech’s Bill Moore Tennis Center.

Also recording points for the Yellow Jackets were Romain Coirault, David Wright, Stephen Moros, Alex Navinkov, and Sergio Aguirre. Coirault, playing No. 2 singles, edged Matt Lucas, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Wright fought back after losing the first set to defeat Mike Carducci, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Moros triumphed over Reinaldo Valor at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3, while Navinkov downed Bryce McGrory, 6-1, 7-5, in the No. 5 slot. Aguirre concluded the afternoon with a super-tiebreaker win over Brad Kilgore at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 5-7, 11-9.

Tech began the match by losing two of three doubles matches to give the Wolfpack their lone point. Coirault and Menano recorded Tech’s doubles victory in the No. 2 slot over Kilgore and Jon Davis, 8-1.

Tech’s 11th win of the season surpasses last year’s victory total just one match into ACC play. The Jackets will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers at 2 p.m.
