Tech Men's And Women's Track Wraps Up Competition At Modesto Relays

Modesto, Calif. – The Georgia Tech men and women’s track and field teams turned in a solid performance in a qualifying meet at the Modesto Relays. Modesto Junior College in Modesto, Calif hosted the one-day event.

In the first event of the day for the Yellow Jackets, the only running event for Tech, Montrell Person matched his season-best time in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.98 seconds, as he placed second in the final heat. Person’s time just missed the provisional qualifying standard of 13.90 seconds by .08 seconds.

Also on the men’s side of competition, senior Clayton Porter placed sixth in the long jump with his distance of 23-8.25. In the women’s long jump, Mishanta Reyes also placed sixth with a distance of 19-3.50.

In the final event of the day, freshman Jodie Nettles placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters.

The remainder of the Yellow Jacket track teams will be in action on Sunday by competing at the Orange and Purple Classic in Clemson, S.C.
