ATLANTA – From March 10 to 12, the Georgia Tech Diving Corps will compete in the NCAA Zone Diving Championship on the campus of the University of Georgia at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Two men and two women from the Tech swimming and diving squad will represent the Yellow Jackets at the meet.

Competing in the meet for the Jackets are sophomores Brandon Makinson and Chris Khosravi on the men’s side and freshman Ashley Hardy and junior Helen Alvey for the women.

Makinson has had a stellar 2010-11 season already, breaking two school records at the 2011 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships with his 360.35 point showing in the 1-meter and a 408.10 point showing in the 3-meter. Khosravi completed the sweep of breaking the school diving records with a 375.90 point platform diving performance at the meet.

Alvey earned a spot in the 1-meter diving finals in her first ACC Championship setting a season best score of 295.25, while also tallying season best scores in the 3-meter (264.45) and Platform (193.30). Hardy who began her year with a bang, earned three season best performances as well at the ACC Championships.

The Zone Diving Championships will kick off on Thursday, March 10 at 11 a.m. with the men’s 1-meter prelims followed by the finals at 1:15 p.m. The women’s events will begin with the 3-meter dive at 3:30 p.m. and day one will conclude with the finals at 5:45 p.m.

Day two will feature the women’s 1-meter and the men’s 3-meter. The schedule will follow the same times as the day before.

The meet will conclude with the platform dive on Saturday, March 12. The women’s platform prelims will kick off the day at 10:30 a.m. and the final will take part just after Noon. The men’s platform prelims will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the finals will wrap up the meet, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
