Former Georgia Tech defensive end Rod Rook-Chungong has returned to his alma mater as a staff assistant. In his role, he’ll assist with coordinating game plans and creating scouting reports and practice plans, primarily for the Yellow Jackets’ defensive coaching staff.
Rook-Chungong played in 36 games with 27 starts over his final three seasons as a Yellow Jacket from 2014-16. He started all 13 games as a senior in 2016, when he ranked fourth on the team with 4.5 tackles for loss. For his career, he tallied 63 tackles and nine tackles for loss.
After concluding his playing career and graduating from Tech with a bachelor’s degree in literature, media and communication in December 2016, Rook-Chungong turned down an opportunity to pursue a professional playing career to accept a job with Mondelez (formerly Kraft Foods).
A native of Silver Spring, Md., Rook-Chungong was a member of the ACC academic honor roll as a student-athlete at Tech.
