Mike Huff is in his sixth year as Georgia Tech’s director of football operations and his 11th year overall on The Flats.

As director of football operations, Huff works closely with head coach Paul Johnson, overseeing all aspects of the program’s day-to-day support operations while serving as a liaison to the athletics department and the Institute.

Huff builds, develops and implements the program’s annual budget while overseeing business contracting, team travel, personnel, scheduling and facilities upgrades. He also manages Johnson’s fundraising committee and serves as a member of the athletics department’s senior staff.

Among his most recent accomplishments, Huff served on the construction board for the $4.5 million renovation of Georgia Tech’s football locker room, which was completed on time in July 2018, assisted with the expansion of the Yellow Jackets’ player personnel unit, tripling the size of the recruiting staff over the past five years, and serving as the football program’s point person for Georgia Tech athletics’ new apparel partnership with adidas, including input on uniform design.

Outside of Tech, Huff has served on the College Football Playoff advisory group since 2015, helping plan logistics for the CFP’s annual national championship game.

He was promoted to director of football operations in 2013 after serving two seasons as assistant director. He joined Georgia Tech’s football staff in 2011 after spending the previous three years as a member of Tech’s communications department (2008-11), working primarily with the Yellow Jackets’ football and baseball programs. He was a part of a Georgia Tech media relations staff that was awarded the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) “Super 11” Award for the 2011 season.

A Tulsa, Okla. native, Huff earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Dayton in 2007, where he was a member of the Flyers’ soccer team. He earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Georgia State University in 2010.
