Ashby Stone joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association student services team as tutorial program assistant in August 2016. She then advanced to academic coordinator working with football student-athletes in August 2017 and on to assistant director in 2019, overseeing Olympic sports – baseball, men’s tennis, swimming and diving and track and field. Stone was promoted to assistant athletics director in 2022. She currently oversees men’s basketball, men’s tennis, men’s golf and volleyball, as well as tutoring services.

Prior to coming to The Flats, Stone was a graduate assistant at Appalachian State University, where she worked with the College of Education, within the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies, and as a student-athlete academic support mentor for the Mountaineer football team. Post-graduation, she became an academic assistant within the athletic department at her alma mater, Kennesaw State University, working with football student-athletes.

Stone graduated with a bachelor of science degree in exercise & health science in 2013 and earned her master of arts degree in higher education, concentrating in community college and university leadership from Appalachian State University in 2016. In May of 2022, Stone earned her doctorate degree in student affairs leadership from the University of Georgia. Her dissertation focus was on black male student-athletes and sense-of-belonging.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Stone is a member of the National Association for Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and Women’s Leaders in College Sports. She holds an executive leadership role on the Georgia Tech Academic Advisors Network (GTAAN) and has been nominated to participate in the Inclusive Leaders Academy for Georgia Tech in 2023.

Stone and her husband, Ben, reside in the Atlanta area and have two cats, PJ and Nala, as well as a German Shorthaired Pointer, Millie.
